Where does my passion for therapy come from?

I first encountered my own therapy around 20 years ago.  The safety and space that my counsellor offered transformed my life.  It was a challenging journey but one which allowed me to explore the barriers that I was creating in moving forward and living a more fulfilling life.

My own experience of therapy inspired me to help others in the way that my counsellor had for me. I discovered a passion for wanting to change the lives of others through the therapy of talking and my journey to becoming a qualified counsellor began in 2002 after working in Human Resources for many years.

In my 20+ years experience of counselling I have supported clients living with mental health challenges such as depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, dissociation, eating disorders, addiction etc.

I work with a trauma informed approach and have specialised in providing therapy to survivors of domestic and/or sexual abuse including adult survivors of childhood abuse for several years.

I have also worked for an early intervention service for children, young people and families. I can therefore bring to counselling an in depth understanding of the complexities of family life and can help you to work through challenges that you may be experiencing as a parent or carer.
